AMALFI

reliving Amalfi...

The incredible view from La Vela B&B, Fuvore. If you ever visit Amalfi, it would be criminal to stay anywhere else

The Amalfi Coast was by far my favourite place on my 1 month stint in Italy last summer. I quite literally felt I was in a never ending dream the whole week we spent there. The pummelling, dramatic coastline, secret coves and meandering walks through the various villages made this place almost impossible to leave.

We stayed in Fuvore, a little village up from Amalfi as the prices were a little better, and it was the best decision we made. La Vella B&B made our trip, it is by far the most accommodating, beautiful little place you will find in the country. We payed 30euros a night (which is reasonable in amalfi) and got a private room with delicious breakfast included. It's a family run place and they treat you like one of their own- we missed the spasmodic coastal bus a few times and they refused to do anything but drive us the half hour commute to the amalfi village and surrounding areas. If that isn't good hospitality, I don't know what it.

Monza 2013

Last month we were lucky enough to be invited to watch the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Milan.

The champagne welcome started it off with a bang...

The noise was incredible. earplugs are a necessity. and they're pretty sexy too...

After the main race things went a little crazy. Everyone, and i mean everyone ran onto the track to go see the awards. It was a sweat fest, and I can safely say I've never been (and probably never will be again) surrounded my so many sweaty italian men. but oh boy was it worth it.

Regarding the race, I just about got the hang of it after the countless laps, and even without watching it was clear that Vettel came out 1st, much to the Italians dismay, shown from their far from subtle boo-ing at the awards ceremony.

But otherwise it was more about the atmosphere and experience for me, and the Italians made that pretty damn special.

safe to say we finished the weekend in poll position.

Cinque Terre

so, after a amazingly beautiful 4 week trip I'm back (well not back on English turf just yet, refusing to come home until I am mistaken for a Mediterranean local) and nearly 2000 photos later ( I know...) it's time to share a few of them and the gorgeous places we experienced.

Firstly, I give you, the Cinque Terre

We stayed at a little campsite called La Sfinge just outside of the 5 villages which I highly recommend for travelling on a budget, as the villages themselves are pretty pricey! They have cute, little hut-like tents for around 15euros each and free shuttle service to the station for access to all the villages.

We stayed 3 nights, which was the perfect amount of time to explore the villages, sunbath and of course stop for the occasional (or more than occasional in my case) Gelato.

We bought a rail ticket to Rigmaggiore, the furthest of the villages and then decided to hop on and off the local ferry to work our way back, coasting about 15 each but totally worth it. The villages are something you must see from land AND sea!

finger-lickin' good seafood along the way...

Our favourite village was the 3rd along, perfect for any couple- flat but breezy sunbathing areas for the ladies whilst they watch their men jump into the crystal blue depths from the rugged emerging cliffs within the bay.

The colours of these beautiful villages, their harbouring boats and cabinets of Gelato are any photographers dream.
It's pretty damn gorgeous.
